2013 – Happy Beer Year

Here it is only halfway through the first month of 2013 and I’m already posting something. Must be some kind of record.  In truth, I’m  always a bit behind here   I blame it on  Beer Living time. Very similar to Island Time. Things just can’t be rushed.   I will save you from reading off a list of New Year Resolutions for Beer Living even though one does exist.  On second thought, maybe I’ll share one of them. Post more frequently. And look at this, its only 15 days into the new year and I’ve already posted. Ha, check that one off as done.

Now, back to beer.

My beer closet, which also happens to be my regular clothes closet, is bursting with beer.  The Winter release of Winter and Holiday beers is always a big buying time for me. But what really took the quantity of beer over the top are the excellent gift choices from friends and family.  While I truly would be fine with receiving no gifts, there are those that feel that they have to get me something. So when they  ask me for the umpteenth time of what I want, I tell them beer.
In my mind its the perfect gift.  Every beer is the right size, color, and if I already received one of the exact same kind its not a problem. In other words, no beer ever needs to be returned.  The only potential problem is storage. Lots of beer bottles take up lots of space.  So after having a few beers and thinking about the issue (aka beerstorming), I think I’ve come up with a possible solution.

A Beer PODS unit. We’ve all seen the PODS units. Usually when people are moving or are simply storing all the crap stuff that won’t fit in their home. The truck drops off the unit, you load the stuff in, and  few days later the truck returns to take it to a storage facility. But with a couple of modifications it could become a wonderful addition to any beer lovers collection.  It is going to need some type of cooling apparatus as I’m sure it gets mighty toasty in those things on hot days. Its also going to need some built in shelving for storage. And finally its going to need a tap handle on the outside for lawn mowing days.  Installation sounds pretty easy. Sledgehammer out a hole/walkway in the exterior wall of your closet and plop that pod against the newly opened walkway. Voilà, walk in beer pod/closet. But the biggest change needed is that damn truck better not come get it after I fill it up with my beer!
