The Oktoberfest (Munich) beer festival recently concluded its 2 week run and there are some interesting numbers in. Attendance was 5.7 million (down from 6 million) while beer consumption stayed level at 6.5 million liters of beer. Sales of non-alcoholic beverages increased by 10%. Bad news for the oxen lovers out there but the number of oxen eaten rose to 111 (up an impressive 6.7%)
Some of the items that made there way to lost and found: 1250 items of clothing, 320 mobile phones, 1 fishing rod, a toaster, 3 crutches, and a miniature pinsher (dog). The toaster is a bit confusing. Maybe they thought they would have to toast up some bread to eat if the organizers ran out of oxen.
