My name is Kimo and I’m a beer shopping addict. Lately I have found myself stopping at grocery stores for the sole reason to check out their beer selection. I’m sure I have caused a few second glances as I walk to the beer aisle, walk slowly back and forth mentally checking off the beers they carry, and then walking out. Sometimes I may buy something, other times I’m only ‘beer browsing’.
Here in Florida, the largest grocery store chain is Publix. And the beer selection varies greatly from store to store. I can’t count the number of times I have gone into a Publix to buy (INSERT GOOD TASTING BEER NAME HERE) only to find that particular Publix doesn’t carry it. grrrrrr. I have 5 Publix stores that I drive by between home and work, and they all carry different beers. Of course I’m talking about the craft/smaller brewery offerings rather than the usual big beer names. The big beer names are in every store (hmmm I guess that’s why they are the big beer names).
I do appreciate the Publix beer selections (and decent prices!), so lately I have been documenting which stores carry which beers. I call it my little black beer book project. Not to be confused with my earlier attempts to document the location of only bock beers, aka ‘my little black bock beer book’.
So now, when someone asks me where to find Shipyard’s Pumpkinhead, I can tell them exactly which store to go to……Anyone else keep a where to buy the beer list?
