A Year in Beer Challenge

Several weeks ago, while The Beer Goddess and I were enjoying a several beers, we came up with the idea of a challenge. The contest is to drink 365 different beers in a 365 day period.   After much thought a few more beers we named the contest,  A Year in Beer.

A Year in Beer Rules:
1. The 365 day time limit starts whenever you want. Don’t wait for New Years Day, start it now.

2. 365 different beers. You can not count the same beer twice. So for example, if you have a Sam Adams Oktoberfest in a bottle and later you have it on draft, it still counts as one beer.

3. Minimum number of ounces for the beer to count is 8 ounces. The rule committee  has gone back and forth on this one. The rule is in place to keep those little 2 ounce sampler size beers from skewing the numbers.

In my particular case, my Year in Beer started on September 5 2009. My beer count is at 15. So I’m a little behind the daily average of one. But I’m still feeling confident that I can make it. I’ll update my progress from time to time and list out the beers I’ve had.

Maybe have a Year in Beer page where everyone can update their own list. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions!
