My Bouts with Beer Snobbishness

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

Over the past 30 years my beer drinking choices have made a few turns. Starting out it was limited to the  usual beers from Anheuser– Busch, Coors, or Miller. If I wanted something  ‘special’, I would spurge on a Heineken, or Heineken Dark for those really special occasions.  Of course in those days, there was not a lot of other choices available on the beer shelves.  Years later, after my beer tastebuds were ‘awakened’, I went through a cycle where drinking Mega Brewery beer was only the last resort.  Instead of feeding money to the big boys, I would rather taste and support the smaller, more independent breweries.  But now, in my ongoing effort to try every beer (an effort which I already know will fail) I have found myself going back and trying more beer from the Mega Breweries. And I must say, some of it isn’t too bad.   For example Budweiser’s American Ale is quite tasty. And when I’m in the mood for a Belgian Wit style beer, Bud Light’s Golden Wheat  hits the spot.  So I’ve gone from Beer Snobbery  to  Equal Opportunity Beer Drinker.
