A Great Evening with Gaelic Storm and Starr Hill Dark Starr Stout

Last Thursday evening, The Beer Goddess and myself headed to see Gaelic Storm in Orlando. We have been big fans of the band for years and have attended several of their concerts. This however was their first time performing in Orlando.  In case you are not familiar with Gaelic Storm, they were the Irish band in the movie Titanic who played the below decks Irish dance party.  Anyway, they are a great fun band.

The concert took place at The Plaza Theater, which is an old converted movie theater. In fact it was Orlando’s first rocking chair theater when it opened in 1963. Now I can’t say that the acoustics were the best I have ever heard, but it wasn’t  bad.

And how does this relate to beer living you may ask?  That is where the Starr Hill Dark Starr Stout comes in. We had arrived early and were happy to see that they had several styles of Starr Hill beer at the bar (in bottles). But  I think I may have screamed like a little girl when I saw that they had Starr Hill Dark Starr Stout on draft.  What a great beer. Starr Hills’s website claims this beer has won more awards for this style of beer (Irish Dry Stout) than any other beer in the country. And it was good to see that quite a few people were drinking it as well.  There were the usual Bud and Bud Light people, but I saw more people drinking stout than anything else.

If you get a chance to see Gaelic Storm in concert, do so. You can check out their tour dates on their website.

Keeping with the Beer and good music theme, here are a couple of Gaelic Storm songs:
