In my BGB (Before Good Beer) days, I used to order Bud Light, and when I really wanted something special, a Michelob. Thankfully, I discovered Good Beer. Even though I am now in the ABB (After Bad Beer) days there are still times when the establishment doesn’t really have anything of interest. What to do then? At least in Florida, Yuengling is becoming very common. In fact it has become my everyday drinkin’ beer. You know, the one you grab when you are sweaty and dirty from mowing the yard. Some of our best friends are from Pottsville, PA (home of Yuengling Brewing) and I have them to thank (for the beer that is, not for being sweaty and dirty!). I know it isn’t the best beer, but at least I’m not supporting some large multinational brewing giant. The only real problem I have with Yuengling is that I sometimes get tongue tied trying to say it (especially after a couple!).
In the Orlando area, the Lager, Light and the Black and Tan are the common varieties. However on a recent trip to the Jacksonville area, they had the Yuengling Porter. I’ve had the Porter before so immediately snatched some up. I think the Porter is now my favorite. It figures that I’d pick the one I can’t find locally….
