Figures from Oktoberfest

The 200th edition of Oktoberfest  recently concluded in Munich, Germany. Here are some quick numbers from this years festival:

7,000,000 liters of beer were consumed.  A new Oktoberfest record!

310,000 liters of  Jubilee Beer were consumed as visitors emptied every single barrel of the rich amber nectar.  Jubilee Beer was brewed in an unprecedented cooperation between the city’s six main breweries — Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Augustiner, Hacker Pfschorr, Spaten and Paulaner. The beer was so well liked, a petition was started to make this beer a permanent fixture. The city council must approve it before it is approved for next year…… Now that’s a city council that I want to be on! The hell with voting on which roads to widen or where to build schools. Lets decide which beers to make!

117 Oxen were roasted on spits.

59 calves were consumed.

“Thousands” of portions of roasted chickens, sausages and pork knuckles were consumed.  Yes, the official total is “thousands”.  In other words, the organizers have no clue.

Items Turned into the Lost and Found Department:

320 Pairs of Glasses …..So I wear glasses. If I take them off things get very blurry. I wonder how many liters of beer I need to drink to make things un-blurry without my glasses

1 Hearing Aid….The organizers are puzzled why no one stepped forward to claim this after repeated loudspeaker announcements….

1 Live Rabbit…. A very lucky rabbit considering all of the animal roasting going on

1 Tuba….Damn it, Where did I lay my tuba down? I know I brought it in with me…..

1 Leather Whip……Lets see, credit cards, cash, hotel key, and leather whip..yep, I’ve got everything

37 Children …Another record!

And making a return visit to the Lost and Found for the first time in a couple of years

1 Pair of Dentures….Easy to spot this person. Its the one who is drinking their dinner…uh..wait…hmmm…maybe they aren’t  that easy to spot

Not making a return visit to Lost and Found was the artificial leg from last year. Police are still tracking down that person. They say the circles they are following are getting smaller so they hope to find the person soon….
