What is Missing at Brewery Tasting Rooms ?

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit several breweries in the Tampa/St. Pete area of Florida.  Correction, it was actually the tasting rooms of these breweries that I visited. And the beer was pretty damn good.  Each tasting room had their beers listed either on a chalkboard, or on one of the electronic boards that make it nice and easy to check what is on tap via online access. I also found it interesting that at the Cigar City tasting room  they had a small dry erase board on the wall indicating when the last time the draught lines were cleaned (only a couple of days before my visit).  All of the tasting rooms also indicated the ABV of their beers which is great information for those like myself who still had to drive. But then it dawned on me, why aren’t they listing when that specific keg of  beer was actually made ?  None of the tasting rooms displayed that information. Outside of some high ABV or barrel aged brews, the fresher the beer,  the better it should taste. So why not put that information on their draught board as well. I realize it could be a pain as they change out kegs of beer, but I think it would be a great service to us, the beer drinkers.

Am I missing something here ?
