I didn’t get a chance to watch Brew Masters live on Sunday but I watched it last night (DVRs and craft beer..two of my favorite things). While overall it was an enjoyable show, I felt like I was watching an infomercial for Dogfish Head Beer. And it worked. Later today I’m headed to my local craft beer store in search of a bottle or two of Bitches Brew. I saw it on the shelves a few weeks ago, but I’m afraid now that the television show has aired the bottles may be gone.
As far as the show itself, if someone has no interest in quality beer they will probably watch that other show instead, you know, Ice Dancing with the Biggest American Idol Loser. But if you enjoy craft beer, then give the show a shot.
A couple of tidbits that ran through my mind as I watched the show.
First, I think this show may in fact be the pilot for a new segment on the Home Shopping Network. It will be called the Home Drinkers Network. Each segment will feature a brewer describing, pouring, and tasting a specific beer from that brewery. Lots of closeups of the beer being poured into the glass, yes beer porn in High Definition. I mean who could resist that! I can hear it now….”Only 347 bottles of this rich holiday porter remain. Don’t get left out. Pick up that phone and call now…”
And my second thought….didn’t Sam and Adam (the Sony music executive) hold that hug just a little too long? I’m not saying….I’m just saying…
Here is the ‘hug’:
